I have now known Matty longer than I anticipated him! My sweet boy is 3/4 of a year old. In the past month, he's cut two teeth (bottom left on 1/23 and bottom right on 2/2), started crawling, packed on more lbs, and started having separation anxiety.
Nine-month stats:
Length: 28 3/8 in (50th percentile)
Weight: 20 lbs, 1/2 oz (35th percentile)
Head Circumference: 18 1/4 in (75th percentile)
I find it hard to believe that M is only in the 35th percentile for weight. I thought he'd at least be in the 50th! He is a bruiser. Have I mentioned that I love love love his rolls? I kiss his chubby legs any chance I get.
Matty did not have any shots at his appointment - but he did have his toe pricked for a hemoglobin count. Unfortunately, his levels are low, meaning he has iron deficiency. The pediatrician did not use the word anemic, but that is basically what it is. So, Matty will need to take iron supplements twice a day. Let's hope his levels look better when we return to the doc in two months.
The sweetest thing happened during Matty's check up. I told Taylor that Matty may need to have shots and asked if she would help me take care of him. While Dr. Quinn examined Matty (he was on my lap), Taylor stood next to me, rubbing Matty's back, sushing him and saying "It's okay, baby boy." It was precious. Even Dr. Quinn stopped what he was doing for a moment to take it in and said, "That brings tears to my eyes." I love seeing the brother/sister bond that is forming between my kiddos.
On to some pictures - the theme for this month must have been nakedness, because I took a lot of pre-bath and bathtime pictures.
| A quick bath after an afternoon poop. |
| Bath time! |
| I still haven't found a food that Matty doesn't like. |
| A little naked time before bathtime. |
| Big boy! |
| Look at that belly. How is that only 35th percentile? |
| The nine-month pictures with Chancey did not go well. Matty would not sit still long enough for me to get to the camera. |
| On the move... |
| He paused for a second after I gave him my glasses to chew on. :) |
