Today was Opening Day for Thunderbird Little League. I am the proud parent of three Little League players this year, as well as the proud wife of a husband that is coaching two of those teams. Our schedule for the next several weeks is CRAZY. This coming week, Taylor has a game on Monday and Thursday, Matty has a game on Wednesday and Saturday and Brayden has practice on Wednesday and a game on Saturday. This does not include other activities like dance on Monday and Thursday and Matty's 1st grade concert on Tuesday.
This year, Taylor is playing AAA softball. Her team is the Mariners, and she is playing with the same coach (Jeff Piha) and girls that she played with last year. This is the first year that she is playing kid-pitch and is doing pretty well so far (the former dancer in me giggled when I saw her stand in fifth position before throwing pitches at a recent game). Taylor has already had five games (although she missed today's game) and has had a couple of hits.
Matty is playing AA baseball this season and is on the Cubs. Super daddy is the coach. His first game was today after the Opening Day festivities. Matty struck out swinging twice but was not too discouraged. He has several buddies from school on his team (Lucas, Kyler, Finn and Blaine) so I hope he has a great season.
Brayden is playing T-ball and is on the Blue Jays. He had his first practice last Wednesday in near-miserable conditions (pouring rain and high 40s) and told me the next day he could not wait for the next practice. After an email circulated that his team was in danger of being pulled since no one had stepped up to coach, super daddy stepped in. Fortunately, the league worked with Tommy to make sure that the boys' games do not conflict so Tommy can coach both teams. Brayden's first game is next Saturday.
Below are a few pictures from Opening Day:

Sadly, this is the only pic I got of my two boys together today.

Debbie takes this picture of Matty and Lucas every year. It is fun to watch them growing up together.

Annie made a special appearance today, mostly because I could not stand the thought of leaving her in her crate at home for 7+ hours.

An hour after the game started, the sun went behind a cloud, and sure enough, it started pouring. Darn Seattle weather.
Meanwhile, Taylor is camping with her Girl Scout Troop this weekend. I hate that I am not there with her, yet I love that she is so independent and can go away without needing me. I received a text tonight from another mom who is chaperoning, and it read, "Being with Taylor has been a pleasure, she's been so helpful & independent - good job Mama!" I am quite certain that would not be the case if I were there. Below are pictures that have been sent to me since she left yesterday afternoon.
