Sunriver with the Akers Clan

Last month, we vacationed with my family in Sunriver, Oregon. This was the first vacation my entire family had taken together in NINE years, so it was a special one to say the least. My mom and dad celebrated their 50th anniversary on 6/8/18, and the trip was their ideal way to celebrate.

We had a great week. Having been to Sunriver once before, we knew the area/activities/restaurants. The kids loved riding their bikes, playing in the yard, hiking, and swimming. My favorite part of the week was our nightly dinners in the house followed by games (Euchre and Telestrations). It was fun to look around the 12-person table and see every person laughing (best example was my dad's drawing of a rhinoceros).

Thanks, mom and dad, for these special memories.

The family truckster is loaded: bags, cooler, bikes, dog crate, three kids and puppy!

The kids were all smiles when we hit the road. Only six hours to go...

My cute parents, celebrating 50 years!

During our family photo session, Matty fell into the river from the dock in the background. He was very upset about the incident but the rest of us had a good laugh.

Dinner time!

I just love this picture of Matty and Taylor. They are not this sweet to each other often.

On Tuesday, we drove to Crater Lake in Southern Oregon (about a 2-hour drive). It was breathtaking.

My babes

Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States. It was formed by the collapse of a volcano 7,700 years ago. There are no rivers flowing into or out of the lake; the evaporation is compensated for by rain and snowfall so that the water level stays (relatively) the same.

Caseyman is just a bit taller than me. :(

Dinner in Bend, OR on the 4th of July

I love Matty's smile here. He was so happy to be (a) sitting by his only boy cousin and (b) drinking a Shirley Temple.

B-man doesn't sit still for long. He finished his dinner and started playing on the restaurant structure.

Family float down the Deschutes. My parents and my family were in one raft and SMAC was in the other.

My favorite boys.

Three generations

We spent most of the float passing a nerf football between rafts. It provided lots of entertainment.

Another bike ride. Shirts optional.

My friend Ali from business school was also in vacationing in Sunriver. We met one morning for a walk. It was awesome to catch up with her!

We spent one afternoon at the SHARC (Sunriver Homeowners Association Rec Center). I got to spend some special time with B on the lazy river. Taylor and Matty loved going down the water slides (B was not tall enough).
It was a great afternoon.
Thank you, Sunriver! I am looking for a picture like this for my house to remember this trip.

On our way out of Sunriver, we stopped in Bend for lunch. It is such a lovely town! Then, we dropped Ryno at the airport and headed north to Hood River, OR.

Our friends, Scott and Rachel Tamfer, rented a home in Hood River for the month of July. We spent one night at their house and played with their three kiddos. Above is Brayden and Owen; they are two weeks apart in age.

Rachel had this water slide set up in the front yard. So fun!
