Oh man, I cannot tell you how many times a week I wish I could jump on this blog and write about the cute things that Brayden says. He continues to make me laugh on a daily basis. He talks and talks and jumps up and down and talks and just cannot get all the thoughts running through his head out quickly enough. Phew!
The other night, Brayden was working on a card for Matty's birthday. I was out of town, but Tommy was tucking the kids into bed. Bedtime is always a chore in our house and Tommy was on a mission to get the kids to bed at a decent time (since they are up late almost every night during baseball season!). Brayden was very busy carrying paper and markers up to his bedroom. Then he said, "Dad, if I shut my door all the way closed can you see if the light is still on in my room?" His innocence was just adorable. Tommy pretended he could not see that the light was still on and let Brayden finish his birthday card for Matty.
Yesterday, I had to run some errands, and my little buddy came with me. I ran into Ace Hardware to buy some grass seed and a hose. Brayden spotted a watering can and immediately begged me to buy it for our flowers. I acquiesced. The watering can was $20 and we already have one, but I could tell how much Brayden wanted this one. As we were standing in line to pay, he said, "Mom, I am just so grateful that you are buying this can for our flowers." So darn cute. He proceeded to spend an hour filling it up and watering flowers last evening.
Last week, when I asked Brayden to do something for me, he said, "I can't. I have too many things on my plate." Again, how can I not laugh when a six-year old says that?
In other news, Brayden has been doing so much better with his anxiety. The therapy has helped, and he has graduated from weekly appointments with a psychologist to monthly check ins. I suspect he will graduate completely at our appointment tomorrow.
But now that he has overcome separation anxiety, we need to work on his speech skills. He cannot say his "Ls" and "Rs" and pronounces them as "Ws." Of course, I think he is adorable, but it is probably time to see a speech therapist. Someone asked him his name the other day and thought he was truly named "Bwayden."
I love you, little buddy!
| Tommy and I had a rare opportunity to take Brayden to dinner on 4/20 (Taylor and Matty were both at a birthday party). It is so nice to have special time with him. |
