Dumb Dog

This afternoon, I got a call during my PTSA board meeting (yes, we have had two PTSA board meetings over the summer). Matty called to tell me that Annie had a wiffle ball stuck in her mouth. He was out in the backyard with the babysitter hitting balls, and Annie was chasing after them. She would pick up every ball that was hit and carry them back to Matty. Well, one of the balls got stuck on both of Annie's bottom i-teeth. It was really wedged in there. I arrived home from my meeting about 40 minutes after Matty called me. Annie still had the ball stuck in her mouth and was drooling everywhere! She was pretty frantic too. My friend Mary followed me home to help. Thank goodness! I tried to hold Annie still so that Mary could clip through the holes in the ball. Whenever we tried to clip the ball, Annie would go crazy! Just when I worried that I was going to have to take Annie to the vet and have her sedated, I cornered her in the family room and pulled the ball out of her mouth. Crisis averted! The dumb dog was free but within minutes she was chasing wiffle balls again!
