Too Busy to Blog

Wow, the chaos at the Bligh house reached an all-time high this month. I really hope I have time to sit down and reflect on all that has happened in May because it is all really, really good stuff. Here's a quick summary so that I remember to come back and elaborate:

  • The first weekend of May, Matty's Liberty Select baseball team won a tournament in Salem, OR. It is the first tourney they have won. They "mercy-ruled" all four teams they played. The whole family was down for the tourney and it was really fun to see the boys play well.
  • Matty turned 10 years old! I sent out a text the morning of his birthday and asked if some friends were interested in playing kickball at the park that afternoon, and we had an amazing turn out! Matty has had some epic impromptu birthday parties between the drive by party last year during Covid and then the park kickball game this year.
  • I spent Mother's Day weekend in Naples, FL with my college girlfriends. It was a full 12-hours door-to-door to go from Newcastle to Naples, but it was good for my soul to see my friends.
  • We moved into our beautiful, remodeled home on 5/13. Twelve days later, we are still unpacking and trying to get settled.
  • Matty (and Tommy) played a ridiculous number of baseball games this month. The Little League season culminated last Saturday with the division championship. Matty's team, the Braves, was 12-1 this season but lost in the championship game by one run. Matty's team had already beat this other team three times this season. It was such a bummer to see the Braves get second place, but the boys had a great season.
  • Brayden started track through the Issaquah Gliders program. He had his first track meet on 5/19. He competed in the 50 meter dash, 200 meter dash, and javelin. He placed 4th in the 200 meter dash and 3rd in the 50 meter dash. He was so proud of himself and took his ribbons to school the next day.
  • Taylor went camping with her Girl Scout troop last weekend.
  • Starting on 5/27, Taylor will go to school four days a week! There are only a few weeks left in the school year, but I'll take it!
  • Taylor is still participating in track at Maywood Middle, but there are no meets this season thanks to Covid. Regardless, I am proud of her for sticking with it and having new experiences.
  • Tommy is working almost every second he is not coaching baseball or unpacking. He started a new job with Instacart on 3/29 and is still getting acclimated. I am excited for his new opportunity but this was a tough time/season to make such a big change.
  • We are gearing up for Mimi and Baba's visit this summer. They fly out next week and are staying indefinitely.
It has been a busy month, but we are getting through it and will feel better once the house is unpacked. We will exhale then... it has been an eventful month/year!
