My Tender-Hearted Boy

Last summer, Brayden upgraded from bunk beds to a full-sized bed, and his room looks so much more grown up. He used to have a picture of a hurricane in his bedroom, but he took it down. Maybe it is a sign that his fascination with natural disasters is a thing of the past? Anyways, I got tired of looking at the bare wall above his bed and ordered him a piece of art. The picture below shows a map of the United States and Canada, but what you cannot see from my picture is that it's a ski map. The idea is that you put a push pin on the map at every ski resort you've been to. I thought it would be a huge hit with Brayden. He skied 16 days this ski season!

The other night, I found the canvas in the hallway outside of his bedroom. Confused, I hung it back over this bed. The next day, the canvas was back in the hallway. When I asked him why he did not want the artwork in his room, he pointed out that there are several points on the map that say "Devil." For example, there is a ski resort in Wisconsin called Devil's Head. Sweet Brayden does not want the word "devil" looming over his head while he sleeps.

Guess we'll find a new home for the ski canvas.
