I had another OB appointment this morning, and the update is not much of an update. As I've said before, Baby Bligh is still happy in utero. I was secretly hoping my blood pressure would be up or some other ailment would force the doctor to induce me today, but no such luck. Everything looks fine. The baby isn't ready to join us.
So... what's the plan from here? On Friday morning, I'll go back to the doctor for an ultrasound and non-stress test. The ultrasound measures the amniotic fluid surrounding the baby, and the non-stress test takes an EKG of the baby's heartbeat. If either of these tests indicate a problem, then I'll be induced immediately. Otherwise, I'll go home and wait some more. Worst-case scenario, I will be induced early to mid-week next week once the baby is a full 10 to 13 days late. Of course, this all assumes that something does not happen naturally before then. I'll continue to work out daily in hopes that she comes sooner than next week!
The most exciting news from the morning is that I am dilated to 1 cm. It's not much, but at least it shows a small sign of progress. :)
In the meantime, my mom and I are trying to keep ourselves occupied. I know I should be enjoying this time... blah blah blah. I have been "entertaining" myself since losing my job in October, so all of my little projects are done. Plus, I've seen enough movies, my nails are painted, the laundry is done, and the house is organized. Our big outing today was a trip to Costco (my mom had never been to one) and the grocery store. Pathetic, eh? Thank goodness for all of the new TV shows - The Bachelor, The Biggest Loser, and 24!
Well, I've written three posts in three days. I think that is a record for me. Unless there is news, you won't hear from me for a few days. My BF Sara is going to post something when I go into labor, so you can always check back periodically to see if Baby Bligh decides to make an appearance! Thank you again for your comments, emails, calls, and prayers!
