Girls' Weekend

Last weekend, my friends Sara and Emily (and Em's daughter Isabel) flew out for a visit. Fifteen years of friendship, three different colleges, three cities, and four daughters later, we are still the best of friends. Emily is the proud mother of Avery (almost 3) and Isabel (6 months) and Sara is the proud mother of Tatum (15 months). It was great to have them here. They were a great help and full of advice for me, the new mommy. I am now calling Emily the baby whisperer because she swaddled Taylor so tightly one night that she slept for almost six hours straight!

Our girls' weekends are not what the used to be. Just a few years ago, Sara and Em visited me in LA for a weekend - we went shopping, got manis and pedis, and went out for sushi and drinks on the Sunset Strip. The night included lots of fancy cocktails and even snake bites (meaning shots of tequila). Now, our girls' weekends consist of 10:00 bedtimes, conversations about breastfeeding and pumping, and rounds of coffee instead of cocktails. Fancy dinners are out of the question. Fortunately, Tommy was kind enough to watch the little ones on Sunday evening so that the three of us could get out for a little while. Just as we were toasting a glass of wine at Snoqualmie Falls, Tommy responded to a text message from Em saying that both girls were crying. We felt so bad that we asked for the check right away and hurried home. So much for a night out.

Walking to dinner on Saturday night... with strollers... yes, a crazy night indeed.

Matching outfits for the girls.I am so thankful for my friendship with Sara and Em. Even though our weekends together are different, we still have a blast. My stomach muscles were hurting on Sunday from laughing so much (that, and they are a little "soft" these days!).

I miss you guys already. :( You are so right, our weekends have totally changed but one thing stays the same....we have a great time and yes, my stomach muscles are still sore.

Give Taylor a big hug from Aunt Sara. Love you!

PS: I give Snowsqualmish a B+!!
