Matty is growing up too fast. He is huge! I may be skewed since Taylor was such a peanut (and still is), but he looks absolutely enormous to me. At six weeks, he is outgrowing most, if not all, of his 0-3 month clothes, and I am about ready to move him into size 2 diapers. Oh my goodness, he is just the most precious thing, though. I am such a proud momma. I tried to soak in all the looks of adoration at church yesterday as I held Matty during the service. I know I'll be looking at other babies in the years to come and will miss these fleeting moments.
Matty's acne is slowly going away, and so is his hairline. The poor guy looks like a little old man now. Throw in a double or triple chin, and your heart can't help but melt when you look at him.

Big sister Taylor is also growing up too fast. At 29 months, she is fully conversational. Her vocabulary is impressive - her use of pronouns, verb conjugations, and sentence structure is pretty much spot on. I love that I can communicate with her and that she truly understands what I am saying or asking. If I need something while I'm nursing Matty, she usually understands and gets it for me. I am even able to reason with her when she's upset - it doesn't always work, but I'll take what I can get.
Taylor's memory also amazes Tommy and me. Nothing gets past this girl. If I tell her one afternoon that we're doing something the next afternoon, she will wake up the following morning and talk about the day's activities. Last week, she wanted some blackberries at lunch and I told her we were out. I said, "Remind mommy to buy more blackberries the next time we're at the grocery store." Sure enough, she reminded me three days later as I was about to check out at the store... she screamed, "Don't forget the blackberries!" Maybe this is normal for a two-year old, but it impresses me.
Baby Georgia still goes everywhere with us. Tommy and I joke that we are a family of five - Mommy, Daddy, Taylor, Baby Matthew, and Baby Georgia. She is also desperate for friends. She LOVES it when I get together with girlfriends and their children. Within minutes of meeting another "little person," she refers to him/her as her "friend." It is so cute to hear her after a playdate... she'll look at me with her big blue eyes and say "Where'd my friend go?"
Taylor is still not potty-trained... not even close. She talks about all the rewards I offer her and tells me every time she tinkles or poops in her diaper, but whenever I ask her if she wants to go on the potty, she says "Not yet... soon!" She is so bull-headed that I've stopped forcing the issue. I hope that some day soon she'll decide it's time. It pains me to empty her diaper genie each week and see all the diapers that are about to go into a landfill. I can't wait for her to be potty-trained. She gets mad if I refer to her as a little girl - she says "No, I'm a big girl!" I try to explain to her that big girls go tinkle on the potty, but again, this head game does not work with her.
One of my favorite parts of the day is climbing into bed with Tommy at night and discussing all the funny things Taylor did/said during the day. I was afraid this little tradition would end when Baby #2 came along. Fortunately, it hasn't. Taylor continues to brighten my world with her spunky personality.
