My parents have always used the phrase "Moment of Ultimacy" to describe a meaningful moment. Well, I had one on Wednesday morning. For those of you that don't live in Seattle, it is daylight all the time now due to the summer solstice. It is light until close to 10 PM, and there is light in the sky just after 4 AM. I am more aware of this now than before since I am up feeding Matty at all hours of the night. Anyways, I had just fed my little man the other morning and was headed back to bed about 6 when Taylor woke up. She did not believe me when I said it was still "nigh night" time, and I couldn't blame her as the sun was busting through her curtains. So, I convinced her to try and go back to sleep in our bed. At this point, Matty was having trouble going back to sleep, so I brought him into bed with us as well.
As I tried to fall asleep (and prayed everyone else would too), I looked beside me and saw, in order, my baby boy swaddled like a burrito, my little girl curled up on her Dora pillow, and my husband snuggled with Taylor's Dora blanket. It was a Moment of Ultimacy! Even though I never got to go back to sleep, I loved having that moment to myself. Thank goodness for king-sized beds too!
