Matty-boy is eight months old! His little personality continues to develop on a daily basis. Aside from the occasional fussiness associated with teething, tiredness, or hunger, he's a happy baby. He loves to grab at anything in sight, watch his big sister, and clap his hands. He is still working on that first tooth. The poor kid is constantly gnawing on toys, and I can tell it has been so painful for him. In the past month, he has mastered some yoga positions (especially the plank position), and he is constantly up on his hands and knees and rocking back and forth. Just today (1/13), I walked into his room and found him sitting up in his crib. I guess it's time to move that mattress down! I realize that these activities are normal for an eight-month old, but Taylor was so late to do so many of these things that I'm not ready for Matty to do them earlier.
I am Matthew's favorite person in the world. There's no denying it. He lights up when he sees me walk in the house after work and cries until I pick him up. Then, he gives me the biggest open-mouthed kiss on the check. It's adorable, except for the slobber that runs down my face. He loves to pat my face with his pudgey little hands and his toothless smile melts my heart.
Matty's favorite activity is eating. I've started telling people that he's as happy as a pig in sh*t when he eats... he just can't get enough food in his belly. He eats everything - cheerios, puffs, cheese, breadsticks, dried mango, edamame, short ribs, all without any teeth! As of his eight-month birthday, I am done breast-feeding (sigh). This was much harder for mommy than Matty to give up.

It is becoming exceedingly more difficult to change Matty's diaper. He is all over the place! He flips onto his belly most times before I can get the dirty diaper off, so it makes wiping his bottom a challenge. He has also stopped snuggling before naps or bedtime. There is no point in trying to rock him to sleep these days; he is better off if I lay him in his crib so he can roll around before drifting off. He still loves his paci, and fortunately he can put it back in if he loses it while sleeping. I am finally getting more sleep... although I may have just jinxed myself by writing that.
I can hardly wait to see what Matty weighs at his nine-month appointment. He is huge to me. He has rolls that I never saw on Taylor - even his little wrists look like they have rubber bands around them. I am moving him up to size 3 diapers this weekend. I love my Chunky Monkey.
