It Takes a Village

Happy March! It's been a rough 2013 so far: I strained my left MCL when I began running after Brayden was born and have been in physical therapy for about eight weeks, I had a violent stomach flu (fortunately only a 24-hour thing) about a month ago and had to call in sick for "work" that day, I had an emergency root canal a week and a half ago on one of my front (!) teeth, and lastly, terrible colds are circulating through our family. Taylor and Matty got sick first, about two weeks ago, and Tommy and I got sick a week ago. Tommy was supposed to leave for 10 days in China and Taiwan on Sunday and had to postpone his trip as a result. Fortunately, he felt well enough to fly on Tuesday.

Thank goodness that I have my mom here to help while Tommy is gone. I do not know what I would have done if she were not here. The only thing worse than being sick is being sick with three small children needing your attention at all times. I am so grateful for my mom and for Tommy's parents and all the help they provide. Elaine (Tommy's mom) was here at a moment's notice when I got in for my root canal last week. I am grateful for Becky, my former nanny, who still helps me out on occasion. I am grateful for the child care centers at my church and gym that take great care of my children while I go to Bible study and work out. I am grateful for all the friends that have brought me dinners since Brayden was born. I am grateful for modern technology, so that I can talk to my other stay-at-home-mom friends or text/email with them when I am having a bad day. I am also grateful for my new Keurig, so that I can make a cup of coffee in 30 seconds.

It truly takes a village to raise children. Thank you to all of you who help me with mine.
