Well, we did it. We bought bunk beds for the boys and now they are roommates. Granted, Matty's bed had been in Brayden's room since my parents' visit in June, so the transition was not a big one. Brayden has been climbing out of his crib since July, and many nights the boys were sharing Matty's bed. We decided it was time to make their sharing of a room official.
Grandma and Pop Pop took the boys last Thursday and Friday so that Tommy, Taylor, and I could spend the day/night prepping their room. We pulled everything out, had a closet system built, assembled the bunk beds, went through a ridiculous amount of little boys' clothing, and put the room back together. The obsessive organizer in me was ridiculously excited about the room.

Tommy and I took a video when we revealed the room to the boys. There was a lot of squealing and jumping. All three kids played in the room for several hours, and all was well until it was time to go to bed. Sweet little Matty climbed up into the top bunk but started crying when I kissed him goodnight. He was scared. I did not hesitate for a second and told him to snuggle on the bottom bunk with Brayden. Matty seemed okay with that since he and B have shared that bed so many nights before. The second night, Taylor slept in the top bunk. The third night, Matty slept in the top bunk but he got out of bed a couple of times with anxiety. By the fourth night, when Brayden volunteered to sleep up there, I let him! I just giggled all night when I thought of my 2-year old being more willing to sleep on the top bunk than the 4-year old. It is such a good indicator of their different personalities!
Tonight is night #6, and Matty is once again on the top bunk. Let's see if it sticks...
