My day started at 3:00 AM when Taylor came in to my bedroom. It is now 9:45 PM, and I thought I'd reflect on the day's activities. Someday, when I am retired and bored, I want to remember my busy life.
3:00 AM - Taylor wakes me up. Complains of an ear ache. She climbs into bed between me and Tommy. I give her some Tylenol. We sleep fitfully.
3:30 AM - Matty comes into our room. Says he had a bad dream. There is no room for him in our bed, so Tommy takes him back to his room and falls asleep in there for a bit.
4:00 AM - Tommy climbs back into our bed.
5:30 AM - I dose Taylor up with Ibuprofen. She has not slept since 3:00 and I have not slept much. We both pass out.
6:20 AM - Tommy wakes me up (as I instructed him to do). I opt to skip my workout and sleep the extra 25 minutes.
6:45 AM - I begrudgingly roll out of bed, shower, get dressed, make coffee, start a load of laundry, dry my hair.
7:20 AM - The boys wake up. Today is school picture day, so I get them dressed, wet down their bedheads, make breakfast, make beds, pack backpacks, call to make a doctor's appointment for Taylor's ear ache.
8:15 AM - I wake Taylor up. She is groggy but insists that she wants to go to school. Today is Wednesday, which means she has early dismissal at 1:30. I figure she can go for half a day (she missed school yesterday due to a fever). She gets dressed and eats breakfast. I pack her lunch, make more beds, flip the laundry.
8:55 AM - I run Taylor down to the bus stop.
9:00 AM - I clean up breakfast, load up the boys and drive them to school.
9:30 AM - Drop the boys at school.
10:00 AM - Host Bible study at my house.
11:40 AM - My timer goes off - time to kick everyone out of my house so that I can pick up the boys from school.
Noon - Back at preschool. Gather boys, coats, backpacks, and piles of artwork.
12:30 PM - Grab lunch at McDonald's. I really hate letting the boys eat here, but it is quick and on the way to Taylor's school. We eat and they play on the playground.
1:05 PM - Brayden throws up at the McDonald's playground. He was choking on some flymm and proceeded to barf up his entire lunch. Gross. We quickly clean up his mess, wash our hands, and bust outta there.
1:15 PM - Arrive at Taylor's school. Pick her up a bit early since she has a 1:45 doctor's appointment. Brayden is loud and whiny in the front office because he wants to play on the school playground. As soon as Taylor comes up from her class, I have to carry B out of the school kicking and screaming.
1:45 PM - T's doctor appointment. Matty has to use the bathroom. I am in the bathroom with him when Taylor is called back. We rush to finish business so that we can all be escorted back.
2:05 PM - See Dr. Quinn. He looks in Taylor's ear and confirms an infection. We are given a prescription for an antibiotic but are asked not to fill it right away. So, why did I come here in the first place?
2:10 PM - Brayden poops. Announces that he has a poopy diaper. I change him in the van.
2:30 PM - We go to the kids' dentist office and sell their Halloween candy. I allowed each child to save 40 pieces of candy, and they sold the rest for $1 per pound. Their dentist then sends all the collected candy to the troops. It's a win/win. Matty needs to use the bathroom again. Poop #2.
3:00 PM - We load up in the van and head to Taylor's dance studio.
3:25 PM - Taylor changes in studio parking lot; I escort her into class.
3:30 PM - The boys and I head to Target. We have to buy various gifts for soccer coaches and upcoming birthday parties. I am also hosting breakfast for Taylor's soccer team on Saturday morning and realize this is one of my last opportunities to buy plates, cups and napkins beforehand. I work tomorrow and have a full day on Friday (except for a small window of time when I'll need to do the grocery shopping). Brayden has a full on meltdown in the Target check out line. I leave a hot mess - I have no idea what I just purchased or how much I spent.
4:25 PM - Pick Taylor up from dance. Brayden falls asleep in the car on the way there.
4:45 PM - Arrive at home. Unpack the car - clean out backpacks, lunch box, and Target bags. Prep dinner. Lay out jammies for the kids.
5:15 PM - Pop Pop arrives. I give him some brief instructions and head out to my Love & Logic class.
6:00 PM - Attend Love & Logic class at church. As my kids say, this is the class where mommy learns to be a better mommy.
8:00 PM - Leave church, stop at grocery store to pick up a few food items needed to get through tomorrow.
8:40 PM - Walk in the door. Pop Pop hands me the phone so that Elaine and I can discuss my sister-in-law's baby shower.
ASAP - Crawling into bed.
There you have it. My days are full and I am exhausted. That said, I love these little people so much and love my time with them (and I pray everyone sleeps well tonight!).
