Taylor's Movie Night Birthday Party

Taylor had 10 friends over to celebrate her 7th birthday. She initially said she wanted to have her party at a bouncy house, but I was not up to renting out the facility, paying hundreds of dollars, and inviting 25 kids. Party pooper, I know. Then, Taylor asked if she could have a sleepover. Given my limitations with my broken foot, I said no to that too. However, I mentioned that she could have friends over to eat pizza and watch a movie. Taylor liked that idea, and so the party planning commenced.

I had hoped to have 7 girls over for movie night, but everyone that we invited came! What are the odds that 11 girls (including Taylor) would sit and watch a movie? Pretty low. The feature movie was the new "Cinderella". The party started at 5:00 on a Friday evening. I had the pizzas delivered at 5:15, and the girls promptly ate. Then, we sang "Happy Birthday," served cupcakes, Taylor opened gifts, and I started the movie at 6:20. By 6:40, most of the girls had left the family room and ventured upstairs into Taylor's bedroom. Soon after, the thumping of pop music (thanks to Kidz Bop) commenced and the china in the dining room (directly under Taylor's room) started rattling. A few moms stayed at the party to help, and we were enjoying a few minutes of adult conversation (and beverages) in the living room when the dance party began. We eventually went upstairs to see what was going on. When we opened Taylor's bedroom door, it felt like we were entering a club. The stench of sweat filled the room, sweaty girls were grooving, the lights were dim, etc. It was hysterical. I was prepared for this type of thing to begin in the teen years, but not at a 7-year old's birthday party!

Needless to say, Taylor's party was a big success. Our birthday girl went to bed with a smile on her face!

Love these little girls - and I love that Matty wanted to be in the fray too.

Cheers!

Gifts: Taylor received a lot of books, drawing pads, and games. Thankfully, no junkie toys!

Movie Showing: This was the view of 11 girls, Matty, and Scott Finholm watching Cinderella for about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures of the dance party that took place in Taylor's room.
