Matty has hit it off with the neighborhood boys. Several times a week, our doorbell rings and Mikey (6th Grade), Tawann (6th Grade), and Pravir (7th Grade) ask if Matty can come out and play baseball. Be still my heart! I wish I could capture my little boy's excitement each time he gets this invitation. He quickly grabs his baseball glove and runs out the door. I smile as I watch him walk down the cul-de-sac, his little stocky body looking up and admiring the big boys. It is absolutely precious. Now, I am sure you wonder why in the heck 6th and 7th graders want to play with a kindergartener. Well, it is because Matty knows the game and plays pretty darn well. Typically, Matty and Mikey are on a team against Tawann and Pravir. Leo and James (both 2nd Graders) will sometimes play too. I am just loving this phase, and I love how sweet these big boys are with Matty.
Let's just hope that Matty doesn't get his heart broken when these boys are in high school and want nothing to do with an elementary-aged kid. :(
