Spring Sports

The spring sports season has begun. Taylor is playing softball and Matty is playing both baseball and soccer. Taylor has softball practice on Wednesdays and Saturdays for 1.5 hours. Matty has baseball on Tuesdays and Saturdays for 1.5 hours and soccer on Thursdays for one hour. Throw in Taylor's dance lesson on Thursday and the occasional Girl Scout meeting, and I am one heck of a chauffeur. Poor Brayden is a total trooper and happily rides along in the car, runs on the track at soccer practice, and plays on the playgrounds during softball/baseball. Last night, Tommy met me at Taylor's softball practice. Matty was playing "wall ball" with another little brother who has a sister on Taylor's team, so I brought Brayden home with me while Tommy stayed to help at practice. B and I snuggled on the coach and watched "Mighty Machines." It was a nice break for us.

Tommy is coaching Matty's baseball team. You can imagine how happy this makes his son! This year, we opted to have Matty play "A" ball instead of t-ball, which means that the team uses a machine to pitch the ball. Because the registration numbers were down, the league opted to combine "A" and "AA" ball, so Matty is playing on a team with Kinder, 1st and 2nd graders. We were worried that he might get clobbered by the big 2nd graders, but it turns out that he is one of the better players on the team.

I'll post more pictures as the season moves along. We are a busy family but are enjoying the recent reprieve from the rain and the signs of spring/summer to come.

Here's a video of Matty at practice this week using the machine pitch. Not bad for his second week of practice!
