Taylor's dance recital was this past weekend. Now that she is a member of the Company dance group, she had to dance in both recitals. Fortunately, all of her dances were in the Saturday evening show, so Tommy and Pop Pop did not have to spend any part of their Father's Day at the Sunday dance recital. She was in the opening number followed by a jazz routine, a ballet routine, and a contemporary routine. She is growing so much as a dancer and looks beautiful on stage. She is graceful and always has a smile on her face. When she came out for one of her dances, the lights were dimmed and we could only see the girls' shadows. Elaine leaned over and asked me where Taylor was on the stage; I surveyed the girls - the two girls in the front looked very tall, so I pointed to a petite girl in the back corner and guessed that was Taylor. When the music started and the lights came on, Taylor was the tallest girl in the front! I suppose I am in denial that my little girl is now one of the big girls!
Several parents came up to me after the recital and commented on Taylor's dancing. One woman said that her husband pointed Taylor out and commented on her ability. I know I am biased, but I agree that she stood out in this year's recital. She loves contemporary, but I think she is most talented in ballet. She is going to be a member of the Company again next year, so she is definitely following in her mom's footsteps!
