Memories

As I was driving Taylor to her drill team camp yesterday, we were talking about some of her childhood memories. She was telling me of a distinct memory of me teaching her how to tell her left from her right. She was in our kitchen and Matty was in the family room. I shared how strange it can be that she has some very vivid memories from her childhood that I have no recollection of, and yet I likely have more memories of her childhood than she does, but they are likely different memories. Now that Taylor is 14, I am losing my memories of her early years, though. Those memories are buried as new memories take up my brain space. It is a strange realization. Time goes by and memories fade. That's when I reminded Taylor that I have this blog. It will be a treasured gift to my children someday when they want to read about their childhood. Of course, this reminded me that I need to be better at writing a few times a month. I just looked back at my blog posts from this year so far, and I have not blogged about our epic ski trip to Park City for mid-winter break, nor have I blogged about our cruise to Mexico for spring break. I'll try to go back and write about those trips before more memories fade.

We are having a great summer! The kids have been busy with camps, sports, dance, and friends. I am savoring these glorious, sunny days with little do to. Last night, we had no plans to start the evening. Then, Brayden had Owen and Drew over to jump on the trampoline (and they ended up spending the night), Tommy cooked dinner, I took Annie on a walk, Adam came over to have a beer with Tommy, Kristin and Debbie came over for a glass of wine, Matty broke in his new baseball glove, Matty and Tommy played catch in the backyard, we had the Mariners game on the TV on the patio, and Brayden and his buddies decided to make M&M cookies at 9:30 PM. We were missing Taylor but know she is having a blast with the high school girls at drill camp. I love summer.
