Yesterday, Taylor started her freshman year at Liberty High School, Matty started 7th grade at Cougar Mountain Middle School, and Brayden started 5th grade at Newcastle Elementary School.
It's been a wild ride. This is our 10th and final year at the elementary school. I don't know if it is harder to believe that my daughter is in high school or that Brayden now "rules the school" at Newcastle. This is also the one and only year that Matty will have no siblings at school with him.
All three kiddos had the first day jitters yesterday. I would argue that Matty was the most nervous, which I found interesting given that he is returning to the same school as last year and he has some great friends.
Taylor barely slept; she said she woke up at 2:30 AM and could not fall asleep. When I came downstairs at 6:30, she was already dressed, had her hair curled, and was making waffles for the boys for breakfast. Bless her. She only had half of her classes yesterday due to the block schedule, so I am hopeful that she is more enthusiastic about high school after today. It is a big transition!
Matty came home from school with a headache; he was in bed by 7:00 PM. From the little intel I got out of him, he has few friends in his class and most of the kids in his classes are girls. Yuck.
Bray had a good day. He said he likes his teacher (although any teacher is going to be a tough step down from having Mr. Bland for the past two years) and he has his BFF Owen in his class.
I pray this year is a great one! I am savoring every day because I feel the years FLYING by.
