Hoco 2024

Liberty's Homecoming was last weekend. It was a busy weekend, but it was a successful one. Friday night was the football game. Saturday night was the dance. Sounds simple, right? Well, it's not that easy. Because Taylor is involved with ASB and drill, the entire week was chaotic with long days spent at school decorating for the dance, rehearsals for the Pep Rally and Friday Night Lights, and lots of moving parts when it came to plans for Saturday. It was exhausting!

The Homecoming football game was fine. So-so. It was in the low 50s and raining; the bone-chilling rain that comes in the fall. Mimi was in town and got to experience the fun of it all! She loved watching Taylor dance at halftime and got tears in her eyes... proud grandma!

Saturday, Taylor's friends came over around noon to get ready for the dance. They giggled and primped all afternoon. Around 4:15, a few of the girls' dates came here. We did a couple of pictures here and then drove to Meydenbauer Bay Park for group shots. While the weather had been ugly all day, there was a small window for the group to get some nice pictures by the lake... and I even saw a glimpse of the sun!

From pictures, the group (16 in total) went to Tavern Hall for dinner. Very few of these kids have their licenses, and even those that do are not allowed to drive friends yet. Therefore, the parents had to cart the kids everywhere. While I tried to be organized and coordinate everything up front, it was a bit of an organizational nightmare. I waited around for the group to finish dinner, thinking that I had to drive them all from dinner to the dance, but after a couple of hours it was determined that I could head home. So I did... I drove home and thought I'd have some downtime, but by 9:30, there was a full-on post-party at my house. I think I counted 37 kids in total.

Taylor asked a while back if we could have a Homecoming party at our house. I agreed - her class has not mixed much, and I want Tay to have the full high school experience. This includes co-ed hangouts! So, we had a ton of food, several fridges full of sodas, a fire pit, twinkle lights, movies on upstairs and outside, foosball and music. The only thing missing was booze - it was all locked upstairs in my bathroom! :)

I did not know most of the kids that came over, but everyone was very friendly, respectful, and gracious. Even Mimi said it was fun - she stayed up until 1:15! The party ended at midnight, but it was almost 1:00 before everyone was out of the house, and even then, Taylor had three friends spend the night.

The next morning, I had to drive Tay back to Liberty High School to clean up. She was a zombie. After clean-up, she took a 7-hour nap! I am not surprised.

Taylor and Tyson are an adorable couple. They are so sweet to each other. Their relationship is very mature for two sophomores in high school. Young love! Here are some pictures of the big weekend!
