Yesterday, Brayden learned he made the varsity soccer team at CMMS. This is big news! May I remind you that one year ago, Brayden dropped out of the middle school tryouts, most likely because he was worried he would not make a team. So, to see him not only make the team, but to make the varsity team (not JV) is such a wonderful boost to his ego.
So, as we were celebrating last night (we made homemade pizzas on the green egg), our doorbell rang. I was sitting at our kitchen island when the bell rang, and the Ring notification on my phone popped up too. I opened the Ring app to see five girls running away from our door. Tommy and Brayden opened the door, and there was a carload of girls in our cul de sac waving and saying "Hi Brayden!" They left him a goodie bag of treats on the porch. It was the cutest thing ever. Mr. B was so embarrassed, but I know he LOVED the attention.
Taylor and her boyfriend were here as well... and Taylor said it makes her so mad that she did not have those experiences in middle school. So, Brayden won the day yesterday!
I should also note that Thursday night was curriculum night at the middle school. Brayden has an awesome schedule this year. He has all amazing teachers, and almost all of them have had one or two Blighs in their class before. As I was leaving Brayden's advanced language arts class, his teacher, Mrs. Skavaril, told me how much she loves my children. She had both Taylor and Matty in 7th & 8th grade (she teaches 7th grade ALA and also has all of the 8th grade orientation leaders in 8th grade homeroom). So, she's basically had a Bligh in her classroom for the past five years now. Gosh, it makes my heart smile when I hear teachers speak so kindly about my babies.
