Once again, Taylor will spend her "month" birthday on an airplane. On her 4-month birthday, she was on a plane to Indianapolis. On her 5-month birthday, she was on a plane to Denver, and on her 6-month birthday, she was on a plane home from Salt Lake City. Tomorrow, she will be 11 months old. To celebrate, we'll be enjoying a nice, LONG trip to Indy. We have a 4 1/2 hour flight to Detroit, followed by a 3 1/4 hour layover, and then an hour flight to Indianapolis. Jealous? I should be in bed right now, resting up for our big day, but I had to update the blog one last time before Christmas.
A few notes about our almost one-year old...
- Last Sunday (12/13), Taylor started doing two new things. First, she has learned how to turn the light switch in her bedroom both off and on. This provides hours (okay, it feels like hours) of entertainment while she flips the switch down, then up, then down, then up. Her changing pad is just inside the doorway on top of her dresser, so the light switch is within reach when I am changing her diaper. Keeping this girl on her back while doing diaper duty is nearly impossible. As soon as I lie her on her back, she flips onto her stomach and goes for the light switch. Second, Taylor has learned to sit up in her crib. Tommy noticed it on our video monitor on Sunday. It is so funny to hear her "talking" when we put her down for a nap, and then to see her sitting in her crib playing!
- Taylor is STILL army crawling, but she is SO close to the real deal. She gets up on her knees all the time, but instead of taking off, she does a split maneuver and ends up sitting on her bottom. So, she army crawls all over the place, gets on her knees, sits on her bottom, and then tries to pull up on things. I am wondering if she will ever crawl or go straight to walking?
- T's crib is now lowered all the way down and her bumper is gone. She was starting to make me nervous by trying to pull herself up on the crib railings. As for the bumper, she used it for a footrest so much that it was always mushed down. Last night, her second night without the bumper, I went in to check on her before I went to bed. Both of her little arms were hanging out in between the crib slats, but I guess she didn't mind. :)
- Taylor now responds to "Hands Up," "Dance," and "Wave." It is so cool to see that she is starting to understand us. Just this morning, she was in bed with Tommy and me, and she was using our sheet to play "Where's Taylor?" Funny little lady!
- Tay likes to "chat" with us now. She starts by making a noise, and she'll wait for Tommy or me to respond. Once we do, she makes another sound, and we go back and forth. I guess this is her little way of communicating?
T's hair is still crazy. Her bangs are so long - they are practically down to the tip of her nose. She's learned how to pull the clips/bows out of her hair that she's worn up until now, so now we are going with the pigtail on top of her head. It sticks straight up and is so cute. Plus, I think Taylor looks like a different person when the dark hair in front is pulled back.
- Taylor has five teeth, three on top and two on bottom. Her fourth top tooth is about to cut through any day now.
As usual, I've attached some pictures of Taylor with Chancey. As you can see, it is becoming increasingly difficult to get her to sit still for pictures. We spent this afternoon with Tommy's parents and celebrated Christmas with them. Tom and Elaine spoiled all three of us, as usual, and we had a great time. Merry Christmas to all!
