One Year Old!

I am the proud mommy of a one-year old! It is amazing to reflect on the first year of Taylor's life and think about how much she has changed, how much I have changed, and how much Tommy has changed. Tommy and I live and breath for Taylor. Gone are our selfish days of doing whatever we wanted whenever we wanted or spending money on lavish trips, dinners, and clothing. I would much rather buy cute outfits for Taylor now than buy designer jeans or shirts for myself. I think twice about going out for dinner anymore because I don't want to mess up T's bedtime routine. I worry about her more than I ever thought possible. I guess that is what parenthood is all about. Tommy and I have loved watching Taylor grow and change over the past 12-months, and we can't wait to watch her in the coming years!

At one-year old, Taylor weighs 18 lbs, 3 oz (10th percentile) and is 30 inches long (75th percentile). I wish I had those stats! I've resolved myself not to worry about her size because I have never denied her an ounce of food or milk, so I guess Taylor is just going to be a little person (at least for now). She is done with formula (hurray!) but thus far she doesn't care for milk either. Her beverage of choice is still water. She LOVES to eat, though. I really can't think of any food that she doesn't like. She eats anything we put in front of her, although her favorites are strawberries, bread, chicken, and cheese.

Although we don't let Taylor watch TV regularly, she is already mesmerized by Elmo. On a few occasions, I will turn Sesame Street on so that I can clip her finger nails or give her medicine, and she goes nuts! My mom gave her an Elmo doll for her birthday that talks, sings, and dances, and Taylor loves him. We got her an Elmo birthday cake her for party today (post to follow), so hopefully it will be a hit.

T got her first molar this week (1/18), so she now has 8 teeth - four on top, three on the bottom, and her bottom right molar. She crawls all over the place and gets in to everything. We think she has regressed a bit because she refuses to put weight on her legs now that she gets around so well. Our pediatrician told us to call if she is not walking by 15-months. We are not worried because we know our headstrong little girl will walk when she's ready to walk. Until then, I am busy baby-proofing everything - cabinets, drawers, fireplace hearth, tables, stairs, etc.

Below are pictures taken on her birthday. She spent the majority of her day with me, Mimi, and Grandpa until daddy got home from work and her other grandparents came over for dinner. Thankfully, it was a gorgeous day (sunny and close to 60 degrees), so my dad and I took her for a long walk.

Birthday morning - Taylor slept in until almost 8:30! What a nice birthday treat for mommy!

Checking out her birthday balloon

Breakfast of champions - starting with cheerios. BTW, I hate the Birthday Princess balloon, but it was the only 1st birthday balloon at the grocery store the night before. :)

Birthday Girl!
Walking with Grandpa - what a beautiful birthday!

Ahhhh, presents!

Dinner with her parents and grandparents
We gave Taylor a cupcake after dinner, but she didn't care for it. She picked the icing off and threw the cake on the floor. She tried to throw the icing on the floor too, but it was stuck to her hands and frustrated her. We'll see if she takes more of a liking to her Elmo cake tonight.

Sweet Girl!
Last happy picture before she got frustrated and started crying.
Taylor Michelle, we love you beyond words and are so thankful God gave you to us!
