Latest Developments

Taylor has started speaking in sentences in the past couple of weeks. The words/phrases she picks up just amaze Tommy and me. When we got into the car after church today, she quickly ordered me, "Mommy, put your seatbelt on!" I didn't know she knew the words for seatbelt yet, let alone know how to use it in a sentence. When her grandma sneezed the other night, Taylor looked at her and said "Gramma, God bless you!"

Taylor loves to run through the house and order us around. She is the queen bee! All weekend, we heard "Mommy, sit down." "Daddy, close your eyes." "Mommy daddy, wake up!" "Mommy, I want grilled cheese!" And on and on... She makes us laugh all day long.

Hide & Seek is a big hit in our house. Daddy taught it to Taylor, and now we can't get through the bedtime routine without playing it at least once. Typically, Taylor and Daddy will hide together and I'll come to find them. Then, Taylor insists "Mommy hide!", so I hide and Taylor and Daddy come to find me. She just loves this game. I think she could play it for hours. What cracks Tommy and me up is that Taylor will sit so quietly while waiting for me to find her. Why can't she do this when I need her to be calm? Such is typical of a toddler, I guess.

As I've mentioned before, Tay loves to put her babies "nigh nigh." She will spend a good hour each day laying her babies on the floor, running into the kitchen to find washcloths or handtowels, running back to her babies, and covering them with the "blankies." After covering each baby, she gives it a nice pat and says, "Nice and warm." Then, she looks at me, puts her finger to her mouth, and says, "Shhh! Baby going nigh nigh." I've started taking pictures of all her babies lying around the house. I imagine this looks kind of scary to strangers - like some sort of cult activity. Taylor insists on covering their faces. :)

Miss T can also count to 10 now. Pretty impressive, I think. The other night, Tommy and I were watching a movie when we heard Taylor talking on the monitor. We paused the movie and watched Taylor in her crib (through the monitor). She was simply lying there, with her feet propped up on the side, counting to 10. We just love those moments. Can I keep the video monitor in her room until high school?

My little girl will be two on the 20th of this month. I think back to two years ago now - my mom was out here and we were waiting, waiting, waiting for her arrival. To say our lives have changed in the past two years would be such an understatement! Taylor has brought us an immeasurable amount of joy! If only I could freeze-frame this phase. We are so very excited about our new baby on the way, but I am loving this time with my funny, active, opinionated, loving daughter.
