Vitamin D

Tommy, Taylor, and I flew to Phoenix a couple of weeks ago for my cousin Laura's wedding. Due to Seattle's worse-than-normal summer, fall, and winter, I have been in a major weather funk and needed some Vitamin D. So, we decided to extend our stay in AZ after Laura's wedding for some fun in the sun. The trip was just what the doctor ordered! The pictures below tell the story:

My beautiful little girl - ready to board the airplane.
All set with her Dora suitcase in the jetway. Taylor was so excited to have her own seat for the first time! Frequent flier accounts have already been started in her name. :)

My family (minus Scott) before Laura's wedding. Laura and Bryan got married at the clubhouse in their neighborhood - it was a gorgeous setting on a gorgeous Friday night in February! Only in Arizona can you plan an outdoor wedding and reception in February.
My brother, Ryno, was the videographer. Tommy caught some action shots of Ryan for his new website.

Tommy's artsy photo skills - he purposely captured the backs of my aunt and uncle's heads as they watched their daughter say her vows.

Me and my momma during the cocktail hour (sigh, no cocktails for me).

Me with my beautiful cousins - Laura (the bride) and Julie.

After the wedding, we spent the weekend at my parents' house in Sun City. Taylor LOVED picking "baby oranges" from the tree in the backyard each morning. She is pictured below with Baba.

Mimi made the mistake of buying markers for Taylor to color with. Taylor opted to tatoo her arms instead.

Tommy and I snuck away for a couple of nights while my mom watched Taylor. We called it our "babymoon." Let me remind you that our first babymoon was a week in Hawaii, so this babymoon was less exotic. Regardless, we enjoyed time at the pool and toddler-free dinners out. Sadly, we took zero pictures while we were at the resort.
The last day of our babymoon, we picked Taylor and Mimi up and brought them to the resort pool with us. Taylor and Daddy had a blast on the lazy river. My cutie in her halter bathing suit.

Mimi, Tommy, Taylor, and I spent last Thursday at the wildlife zoo. It was a huge hit with Miss T. I'm not sure what she liked more - the animals, the merry-go-round, or the playground - but we had a great day! Below is a picture of Taylor feeding the giraffes.

Riding the merry-go-round with Mommy.

Petting the goats, deer, and llamas. Taylor was fearless. The animals tried to eat my shirt and I shrieked... when they gnawed on Taylor's shirt, she laughed.
Playing on the playground. Slides never get old for this little girl.
As an added bonus, our dear friends Jim and Meghan Dunbar were visiting Meg's family in Phoenix last weekend. Tommy and I lived two blocks from Jim and Meghan in Chicago, and the four of us spent countless nights together while we lived there. Jim and Meg have a 16-month old daughter, Clare, so we got together a couple of times with the kiddos. Boy, are our lives different! We used to go out for drinks, then dinner, then more drinks, and many of our nights ended with burritos or pizza at one of our condos. We could only laugh when we met for dinner at 5:00 last Friday, and bid our farewells by 6:45. As you can tell from the picture below, the girls were exhausted and made any adult conversation difficult.

Taylor and Clare

Tommy and my last attempt to keep Taylor smiling instead of melting down. 1-2-3-Swing is always a big hit with her.

We returned to Seattle last Sunday after a great 10-day stay in the sunshine. Tonight, we're watching the snow fall from our family room window and wonder how long until it will be before we see the sun again? Congrats again to Bryan and Laura, and thanks Mimi for a great visit!
