Matty's four-month picture with Chancey
Our sweet boy is four-months old now. Matty celebrated by rolling over for the first time on his four-month birthday. He continues to be such a delight! We love him so much. I sound like a broken record, but he is an easy-going baby and only cries when there is a good reason to cry. Lately, I have found that I can halt his crying by singing "You Are My Sunshine." It's amazing how he will go from total meltdown to almost a smile when he hears my "beautiful" voice. Ha! He still loves to chew on his hands, and he has started grabbing for his feet as well. There have been a few instances when he has lashed out on Taylor when she's gotten into his face. It's hysterical. He will almost try and bite her while he simultaneously lets out a big squak, as if he is saying, "Stay away from me!" Good boy, Matty. I'm glad he is learning some defensive moves.
Stats at four-months:
Weight: 14 pounds, 3 ounces (45th percentile)
Length: 25 inches (51th percentile)
Head circumference: 16.5 inches (49th percentile)
At Matty's four-month appointment, he weighed 14 lbs, 3 oz. Let me remind you that he weighed 13 lbs, 8 oz. at his two-month appointment, so I was somewhat upset to learn that he is not gaining much weight. His pediatrician is not concerned about his weight at this point. He says that it is normal for breast-fed babies to fall back on the charts a bit at this age, and he also said that Matty's weight is proporational to his length and head circumference. So, we'll take things day by day before deciding to supplement with formula.
I must brag for one second, though. When our pediatrician was looking at Matty's growth chart, he discovered that Matty's weight at two-months was incorrectly plotted on the three-month growth curve. So, instead of being in the 50th percentile as we were told two-months ago, he was in the 95th percentile. Oh, how I wish I had known that then! Given Taylor's small size and now Matty's smaller size, I would have loved to brag about my big baby after that appointment!
My first day back at work was a success. The kids did really well with their new friend Becky, and mommy enjoyed catching up with her colleagues. We'll see how I feel when I actually have work to do! Fortunately, GE has a great "Mother's Room" so I can pump throughout the day, complete with a leather reclining chair, refrigerator, sink, mirror, and phone.
We just received pictures from a recent photo shoot with our family photographer. I'll post those next...
