Time is moving too quickly. I am acutely aware of how quickly my children are growing. I wish I took the time daily to write about them. There is so much to say, so much to document, so much to treasure forever. I want to remember the little things, like:
- Matty's preschool teacher told us that "it is not normal" for a little boy his age to be so good at math.
- Brayden came home from school today with a note that said "I pooped in the potty today!
- Taylor got up this morning and made breakfast for her and Brady while I showered.
- I asked Matty what he would say my favorite thing to do is, and he said, "Snuggle!"
- Taylor got about six inches cut off of her hair - she looks so grown up and stylish.
- The other morning, the boys came into my office before Katherine took them to school/soccer, and they both hugged and kissed me multiple times. Be still my heart.
- Tonight, before dinner, Brayden folded his little hands, bowed his head, and prayed "God is great, God is good, and we thank Him for our food. Amen!"
- Taylor will randomly bring me my ice pack to ice my foot.
- Brayden, while still not potty trained, tells me in the morning if he "tinkles have connected." (Backstory, I used to ask Brayden in the mornings if he needed to use the bathroom, and one day I must have asked if his tinkles have collected... so now he says connected).
- Taylor and I are reading "The Boxcar Children" before bed each night. I love reading chapter books with her.
- Matty's favorite movies/shows now include High School Musical (#2 is his favorite), Care Bears, and Grace, an American Girl Movie. He enjoys girlie television but is all boy when it comes to playing sports/running around the house (evidenced by the rips in the right knee of every pair of pants).
- Brayden talks continuously. Like, all the time! He is so stinking cute. My favorite is when he says things like, "I'm too busy" or "Is that correct?" or "Mommy, I like you and I love you and you're so cute and you're so weird." On the flipside, when he is in a bad mood, stay away from this little monster (see video)...
Bottom line: I am really enjoying this phase with the kids. They are still little. They still need me. They still want to spend time with me. However, they are becoming more and more independent. The daily grind is getting a little bit easier each day. I see light at the end of the tunnel! I love them so.
