Diapers

Diapers be gone! Brayden has joined the ranks of his big brother and big sister and now goes #1 AND #2 on the potty. Hallelujah! This is truly a milestone in the Bligh family, as I have been changing diapers for almost 7.5 years.

Brayden has been going #1 on the potty for several months. However, he had some sort of psychological barrier to going #2. His preferred place to go #2 was up in our playroom. He would go up there to play with his cars/trains, and it would get very quiet. If I went upstairs to check on him, he would say things like, "Mommy, go downstairs," or "Mommy, I don't want you in here." I'd leave him alone (he would usually get very irritated if I asked if he'd like to sit on the potty) and then he'd appear downstairs later - and the smell would follow.

While we were in California over Memorial Day weekend, we were hiking in Muir Woods with Grandma, Pop Pop, Uncle Brian, Aunt Kristen, and new cousin Emery. The kids were chasing chipmunks around in the woods when Brady's diaper literally fell off of him. He was wearing shorts, and the Velcro tabs on the diaper had been pulled on and off of him so many times to go #1 that they wore out. The diaper fell through one of the legs and landed on his shoe. At that point, Brayden laughed and said, "I am done with diapers!" I was not so sure this was true, but sure enough, it was. Since then, he has been going #2 on the potty AND standing to go #1. Such a big boy.

The first day he was diaper-free was my birthday. Best 39th birthday present ever!

Learning the ropes from his big bro.
