Lately, Brayden has been in a scared phase. He says he gets scared often. Last weekend, Tommy went to the bathroom during Brayden's basketball practice, and Brayden got really upset that Tommy left the court. He also gets worried when he cannot find me. He doesn't want to go to Sunday School when I am not teaching. He cried at a friend's house the other day when his friend's mom ran out for two minutes.
Yesterday, Brayden was his normal, happy self all morning. I walked him to the bus stop and kissed him as he got on the bus. I was still at the bus stop, talking to a neighbor, when the school called me. The nurse said that Brayden was crying in the kindergarten line up (where the kids line up from the buses and wait for their teacher to come and walk them into the school). One of the teacher assistants saw him crying and asked if he was okay. He said that his neck hurt, so she sent him to the nurse's office. The nurse interpreted this as a sore throat and called me to come and pick him up. So, he was home from school within 30 minutes of leaving for school. Brayden had me believing that he was not feeling well, but it was evident within 30 minutes that he was perfectly fine. He played the whole day. In fact, at one point, the two of us (and Annie) went out for a picnic in the green belt behind our house (yes, it is January, but it was a rather sunny day). He kept telling me how happy he was to be with me. He had packed us a bag of snacks. Needing his usual affirmation, he kept asking, "Aren't you so glad I brought you here?" "Aren't you so glad I packed us snacks?" Bottom line, this was no sick child.
Today, I asked Taylor to wait with Brady in the kinder line up for his teacher. We had a plan and Brayden knew he would be with his sister until his teacher came out for his class. He knows he is safe at school and is well cared for. But, I got another call from the school this afternoon. When
So, while part of me loves knowing that my baby still needs his momma and feels most secure with me, the other part of me is wondering what is going on in his head? Isn't this the child that used to be a flight risk? He would dart off from me in every public place imaginable with no concern for his safety or my whereabouts. I suppose the tide has turned.
Let's hope my little guy makes it through a full day of school tomorrow.

| Does this look like a sick boy? He made this chair contraption and played Minecraft for several hours while home sick. |
