Back to Dance

Taylor returned to dance in January. After a year hiatus, she decided that she missed dancing and wanted to go back. Of course, I was thrilled to hear this, not so much because I am trying to project my love of dance on to her, but because I never really understood why she quit in the first place. I truly do not care which sports/activities my children participate in... I just want them to be passionate about something.

So, Taylor started take jazz and contemporary classes again. The two classes were just one night a week, and the classes were back to back on Monday evenings. It was not a huge commitment but it gave Taylor something to do. Her friend Alivia Piha happened to be in both classes too. I was thrilled that she had an immediate buddy, and it was also super convenient to carpool.

The annual dance recital was on Sunday, 6/12. This happened to be four days after Taylor started at the Eating Recovery Center, so it was quite stressful to request a hall pass for her to leave the program early for the recital. They almost did not let her dance, but Tommy and I argued that when we were notified of the opening in the program (on Monday, 6/6), she had already had her last rehearsal for the recital. Thankfully, it all worked out. It was so amazing to see Taylor up on the stage again. She is a beautiful dancer. I had tears streaming down my face during both dances because I know how much dance means to her. After her first number, I got a text message from another dance mom that said, "Taylor's still got it!"
