Gordi is Gone

Tommy and I had our 20-week ultrasound on Friday. For weeks now, we have been debating whether or not we wanted to learn the baby's gender at this appointment. I had been pretty insistent early on that we should wait until the baby is born, but for some reason, I started thinking differently in the past week. Maybe it was due to the chaotic summer that we've had, maybe it was due to all the uncertainly surrounding my job that I needed some sort of clarity, or maybe it was curiousity getting the best of me. Anyways, we had the nurse seal the baby's sex in an envelope for us, and we opened it while picnicking at a concert Saturday night.

Despite my insistence that Tommy only carried boy genes (most of his family is men), we are having a little girl! We are just shocked! We are excited beyond belief, but I really never thought I'd have a daughter. My college friends will laugh, of course. We have a pool each time one of our girlfriend's is pregnant, and I think I am 1 for 12 on guessing the right gender. I was thinking that my motherly instinct would be right this time, but not so much!

Anyways, with this update we have to retire the name "Gordi." I am almost sad to do so because I had really given Gordi a personality in my head. I've asked Alexa and Casey to come up with a new nickname for Baby Bligh, so we'll see what they come up with next...
